Rakaposhi Mountain is in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Rakaposhi is ranked 27th highest mountain in the world and 12th highest in Pakistan. Rakaposhi is more famous for its beauty than its rank might suggest. Rakaposhi means “Snow Covered” in the local language. Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani (“Mother of Mist”). The mountain is broad, measuring almost 20km from East to West. It is the only peak on Earth that drops directly, uninterrupted, for almost 6000m from the summit to the base. Considering the mountain’s bulk, it is slightly surprising that there are only three completed routes to the summit. SW Spur This is considered the easiest and most popular route.
Besides the highest peak of the Rakaposhi massif is Rakaposhi East (7,010m). This peak also holds significant value to Geologists as it is the prow of the Eurasian land mass with Nanga Parbat representing the prow of the Indian land mass.
Our Rakaposhi Expedition starts from Islamabad. Our Representative will meet you at Islamabad International Airport, and then transfer you to the hotel for a rest to recover from the journey. We will meet in the afternoon for a briefing about the Rakaposhi Expedition. Next morning, we will start our adventure towards the North on the famous Karakoram Highway.
